Yin/Yang Yoga - Yin-Yang Yoga combines yin yoga with a flow practice. The Yin portion of this class is a gentle, quiet, and meditative practice that teaches us to relax. Poses are held from 3-5 minutes which allows the deep connective tissues surrounding the hips, thighs, and lower back to be gently stretched. Through mindful stretching, Yin Yoga maintains the health of the connective tissue and encourages free flow of energy in the body.
The Yang portion of this class allows us to integrate this openness and awareness into a sense of steadiness and alignment with a gentle vinyasa flow in our practice. This class is suitable for all levels.
Yin Yoga - Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is performed by holding poses for 2-5 minutes. It targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much. It's benefits include greater flexibility, strength and mobility all over the body, but especially for the lower spine, hips and pelvis.
Prenatal Yoga - Prenatal Yoga applies postures, breathing, and meditation to help sooth the challenges of pregnancy, and to prepare expectant mothers for both delivery and postpartum recuperation. Yoga has been shown to help alleviate many of the common complaints that occur during pregnancy such as heartburn, swelling, back pain and sciatica- while also bringing a deep awareness and a sense of joy at experiencing the natural changes that occur during these 9 months. This class is offered as a 5 or 6 week session.
